Thousands of AA and ACA meetings are held online every day via Zoom, telephone, and chat. Online meetings offer the same warmth, connection, and recovery as in-person meetings — and are often easier to access for newcomers who feel nervous about walking into a room for the first time.

💡 Tips for Your First Meeting

You don't have to speak. Many people attend their first several meetings as observers, listening and getting a feel for the group. No one will pressure you to share.
Arrive a few minutes early if you can. Introduce yourself to whoever greets you. People in recovery are warm and welcoming to newcomers.
Try more than one meeting. Each group has its own personality. If the first one doesn't feel like a fit, try a few others before drawing conclusions.
You don't have to identify yourself as an alcoholic or adult child. Simply sharing your first name is enough.
After the meeting, people usually gather to chat over coffee. This informal time is often where the most meaningful connections happen.
Look for a sponsor or temporary guide. Ask someone whose sharing resonated with you if they'd be willing to talk after the meeting.
